she’s a very kinky yarn

recycled yarn

After working with my white sweater wool, which I took the time to soak and unkink, I’ve decided that I prefer its smoothness for granny squares. So, tonight is bath night for the rest of this sweater wool!

recycle: I’m also in the process of unraveling another sweater. Just because. Maybe I should start listing some in my shop!

  1. I don’t think I’ve commented before, but I wanted to thank you so much for your blog. I would have never thought to unravel a sweater. Right after you first posted about it, a favorite sweater of mine ended up with an unrepairable hole. Instead of ending up in the landfill, it’s now in the process of being crocheted into a new spring sweater! My bank account and green lifestyle thank you for all the inspiration you provide!

(and your post title cracked me up.)

  2. My Mother has often told me stories of how my Grandmother and her would unravel old jumpers and re-knit the wool to make clothes for my aunts and uncles. I wish my Nan was alive today so she could see how positive an experience recycling has become, as there was always an underlying embarrassment that they were not rich enough just to buy new. Thank you for your blog, like my Nan you are an inspiration. :)Kim
