thrifty find: new buffet!

thrifty find

It may have been a dresser in its past life, but I’ve got a new buffet, baby!

We’ve been looking for some kind of additional storage in our kitchen/dining area for months. I found this one at the thrift store this morning. It’s a little rough around the edges, but I think a coat of dark brown paint and new brushed nickel knobs will make it perfect.

The measurements for our space are also ideal. And it’s wood! Not particle board! It’s just right in so many ways. What a great start to the weekend!

Hope you have a great weekend, too!

p.s. The dishtowels from yesterday are still blue. Boo.

  1. That is a great find, it will be fabulous in a dark brown. I love the shape of the handles that are on it, do you think you could paint them? I know they have a spray paint that does a hammered finish, there might also be a brushed finish. Can’t wait to see how it looks finished!

  2. Be sure to sand the heck out of it, maybe even use stripper, prime it and then paint. I found out the hard way trying to refinish some dressers like that from my grandma that there is a surprisingly thick layer of something that won’t take paint on that blonde veneer furniture. They looked great once I figured it out but the first couple tries were very sad looking. ;)
