toy organizing bags

I’ve been trying to regain some control over my daughter’s closet. Lately she just wants to empty everything onto the floor to build a giant mountain of toys. Getting her to put away the toy mountain when she is finished has given me quite a few gray hairs.

In my creative space today, I’ve been making some bags for all of those Christmas presents that came without containers. I really should have done it sooner. Having a specific place to put things has helped a little. I also moved half of her toys to the very top shelf. That has helped a lot.

What’s in your creative space today? Play along over at Kirsty’s place.

  1. My daughter’s a teenager, and she still pulled out everything from her wardrobe to make a mountain of clothes on the floor – just to find that one thing she was looking for.
I’ve tried all sorts of tactics over the years (many grey hairs later) but now I’d hit on the idea of sorting out all her clothing into large, labelled tubs in her wardrobe – and so far (touch wood) – it’s worked. I don’t want to compartmentalize my whole life, but in this instance, hurray for the plastic tub!

  2. I think the bags are a good idea – as is putting some of them away. I take some toys and put them in a cupboard, and rotate them every now and then. Less little pieces floating around here, and “new and exciting” toys for them… :)

  3. Oh, I need to do that too, for everyone in the family. Well made cotton bags are useful for so many things. Yours looks gorgeous!

  4. That is such a great idea! WOW. I’m impressed with the concept and might have to borrow it. You’ve inspired me to post on my creative space today as well.
