I just wanted to add (and please don&#039;t think I&#039;m urging people to rush out and invest in an expensive new gadget, in these hard times), that sergers aren&#039;t just for knits.  Anyone who does a lot of home dec sewing will find a serger saves a lot of time especially for things like curtains and slipcovers (or anything that has long, looooooong seams).  

I do very little apparel sewing on my serger.</description>
