hokie squares

It all happened so fast that we didn’t even see it coming. M had been a little fussy on and off because I had been trying some dairy: two spoonfuls of ice cream here, soy milk in my coffee there. Things weren’t going very well. Then we had a few nights of craziness. She didn’t want to sleep. She was frantic. All she wanted to do was nurse and be held. We knew she had one tooth that kept messing with her. You could see it under the gum. It had been coming and going for almost a month, but it had never made her this crabby. Then one morning I saw two new bottom teeth. The next morning I saw two more. I felt bad. All this time she had four teeth trying to break through. I should have given her some Tylenol. I didn’t expect four new teeth within 24 hours. Then, just when we thought we were done for awhile, a week later out popped another one. That’s when I snapped this picture. The next day the eighth one broke through. The last two were a little easier on her because I was getting familiar with the signs and we were giving her Tylenol. So, six new teeth within ten days for a total of eight. It’s true what people tell you: everything seems to happen so fast. Good thing I’ve got a fast camera and a big hard drive.

Don’t feel bad, sweetie! My six year old (and you’d think I’d have recognized the signs by now) got 3 molars and 2 front teeth all within 5 days. He just complained that he had a headache and was tired. It wasn’t until I was helping him brush his teeth after a particularly purple popsicle that I saw all this craziness in his mouth! Amazingly, the motrin made all the owies go away, and he was back to his normal, charming self! Mommy error #? (I don’t think I’ve gotten to infinity yet, but I must be close)!!!

there is a natural herb teething tablet that works wonders. it is just called teething tablets. they have them at walgreens. you can give them on top of tylenol. and since their natural, i always felt better about giving them to her. hope the rest come easier.
