And so are we! Over the weekend I unpacked all of the baby goodies from friends and family, and honestly, I’m a bit overwhelmed! This time last year when T and I started talking about starting a family I was kind of sad. I didn’t know a lot of folks in Lincoln and traveling back and forth to the East Coast with a new business was getting difficult. I told T I didn’t think Baby K would even have a shower.
Fast forward to this summer and I am blown away by the generosity of family, friends, and people I don’t even know all that well. A simple, little blog entry won’t even begin to express our gratitude to everyone, but there are a few people I want to spotlight.
My mom managed to pull off an amazing family and friends get-together/shower when we were in Maryland for less than 72 hours in June. Even more amazing was that she had just gotten back from vacation something crazy like six hours before the event. I know she had help from my Cioci and her friend Linda, but still. Wow! My friend Amber arranged lunch for me and my girlfriends at Macaroni Grill. We had such a great time, we were there for four hours! My knitting friends Mary Pat and Liz organized lunch and knitting with our Wednesday and Saturday groups. A few ladies hand knit the most adorable sweaters for Baby K. Only at knitting group will you hear the phrases “What yarn is that? What needle size did you use? Where did you get that pattern?!” My neighbors Sue and Ania put together a neighborhood shower. I’ve been kind of a hermit lately, what with the heat and not doing any yard work. It was nice to spend time with everyone!
I also want to spotlight my mom’s friend Linda, who has very generously given us a ton of baby clothes, a bouncy seat, some play things, and more. Baby K has winter clothes! And not only are they adorable, but they have been so well cared for, it’s as if they’re brand new. I can’t wait until October so Baby K can wear the pumpkin pants!
Like I mentioned earlier, everyone has been so wonderful and generous that a little blog entry doesn’t even begin to express our thanks. But, after looking at everything unpacked and ready to be put away, I felt I needed to say something!
p.s. The trivia answer was green belt.
