At Monday’s prenatal checkup I asked the doctor if he could tell how big Baby K is right now. He said between 7 and 8 pounds. Yes, feel free to gasp with me. She is expected to gain 1/2 pound each week until delivery. Ironically, this is the first week that I have not gained any weight. In fact, I’m at exactly the recommended weight gain for pregnancy. (Yeah, I know—normal, normal, normal.) Personally I was not a big baby, coming into this world at just under 7 pounds. We’re not really sure about T, though. The doctor reassured me that he would much rather deliver a nice, “robust” baby than a smaller one who may be at greater risk for problems. I don’t know. That kind of sounds like when people try to make you feel better by saying “it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day.”

I remember that the doctor was concerned that you were going to be small and you were fine. So, only baby K knows. She’s probably long and lean!
Soon we’ll know. You’re in good hands.
    Take care Mama K.

Julie, First, you’re a gifted writer. I’ve so enjoyed reading these blog entries, feel like I’m right there with you. Glad to hear baby K is coming along so well and growing so nicely. She’s already her own person and will make her entrance her own way!! I barely made it to the hospital with Chris and he was over 8 lbs. My best advice – don’t listen to anything anyone tells you, they all like to scare you to death when there’s nothing to be frightened about.
Enjoy the next month, pamper yourself and believe me, you all will be fine. My thoughts are with you.
    Love, Mary Kay

I know I was terrified about the delivery. There are good experiences with L&D. They are not all bad. I had the epidural both times and they were both smooth and pretty easy. Best of luck to you and T! Can’t wait to see Baby K!
